Good wine and fun name to go with our occasional mad Bay day. We have enjoyed it, and thanks Grandma Ann for introducing us to it. Kathryn and Chris you should try it, it’s Austrailian.
So happy to get wine recommendations from my sister.
Google Earth Engine is a joint project between Google and NASA that allows anyone access to a 30 year time-lapse of the surface of the earth. I made a video about how amazing, terrifying, and important it is.

My mother is a ‘Valerie’ but in a subversive way. She always brings vegetable trays to parties… and people like it.

A drawing made hurriedly and silently on a Post-It note for the benefit of a colleague sitting next to me. We were on a conference call with a well-meaning but geographically challenged New York-based artist trying to figure out the feasibility of driving from Ohio to Minneapolis “in a few hours.”
The fact that New York is drawn as all of New England means that this map must have been made for me. I miss America, specifically California and New York.

I love real estate. My parents moved house when I was 11 and I remember all the drama and excitement of finding a new home that had ‘character’ and unfortunately no swimming pool. I felt like I was the only kid in Southern California who did not have a…
Website of the Human Library. We’re doing this on May 25th. A little nervous, kinda excited.
From Elizabeth: As per the comment I am here to clarify. We will be at a church event where we will be “Books,” meaning we are people on loan to another person for 15-20 minutes where we tell our story and then answer their questions. We will be on loan 3 times. It is the kind of event where specific people are “books” because we are examples of some of the most common prejudices in our society, and then others come to “check books out” of the library to perhaps become more tolerant. We still need to come up with our book titles so people can browse a catalogue to decide who to talk to, but it sure is a difficult task.
This sounds like an amazing project. I wonder what book I would check out or become. Well, since I’m a white middle-class woman (and current housewife) I probably would not become a book but I would like to ‘read’ one. Let me know how it goes E&J!

Wisterias form romantic cascades of sweetpea-like flowers that fall in lush blue, pink or white masses from woody vines that grow mainly in the South and Southwest. The entire plant, also known as a kidney bean tree, is toxic, though some say the flowers are not. Better safe than sorry, because most reports are that eating this plant will cause nausea, vomiting, cramps and diarrhea that could require treatments such as intravenous hydration and anti-nausea pills. So don’t try your luck when encountering this plant.
Lady Banks and I have a great fondness for wisteria.

I’m gonna miss these emails from The Substation celebrating each holiday. They are artistic, colorful, and fun. This one however was particularly hilarious since Singaporeans hate the beach and it looks like this particular couple has a pet rat with them.
